This fic is truly special. If you love the feeling of spring, plants, nature, and getting to grow alongside another person, you will absolutely love it.

I've been re-reading it lately and got reminded of it's greatness. It's telling the story of a young Brendon and Ryan. They're neighbours, and a big motive is spring and nature -- the fic starts in December, when they meet, and takes the reader through winter, early spring, into summer. All the while Ryan is planting stuff in his garden, and over the course of the story, those plants sprout and grow and turn into the most beautiful garden you've ever seen. And along with them, the love between Ryan and Brendon also grows -- slowly, quietly, but steadily, until it is in full bloom.
I still remember the first time I read it. I could feel and see the garden, and all the plants growing beautifully thanks to Ryan's constant care. If this fanfic were an album, it would definitely be Pretty. Odd. -- they both have the exact same vibes. And isn't that just mind-blowingly perfect?
Also, I could relate very well with (fic) Ryan. A young boy who is quiet, keeps to himself, and puts so much love into his passion. I could also relate because we're both trans -- Ryan gives me incredible gender envy, and in this fic I could connect with (fic) Ryan so much.
Brendon is also incredibly sweet in this, and is exactly what Ryan needs. He is his steady support, and grows to love him unconditionally. One could say that Ryan is the plant, and Brendon is the soil in which Ryan gets to grow into his most breathtaking and true self, all because he is oh so loved.
I've you've ever wanted the fic equivalent of watching a plant grow from a seed into a small and promising sprout, and then eventually into a stunning plant, this is the one. If you've ever wanted the fic equivalent of listening to Pretty. Odd. in spring, this is the one.
